Hair Tutorial (Remix): Cotton Candy Bun

Hair Tutorial: Cotton Candy Bun

Guys. I am a topknot addict! I wear this cotton candy bun in almost every one of my outfit posts. I’ve received lots of questions and comments about this ‘do (thanks so much!!), so I decided to give this old tutorial that Chrisi created a little makeover.

Here’s the scoop: This style is made for dirty hair and it takes about 5 minutes (or less) to create. It doesn’t get much better than that. Shall we?

What you’ll need:

- 1 hair tie
- A teasing brush
- Bobby pins
- Hair spray (I am using Sebastian Shaper Plus Hair Spray)

1. Ponytail it

Put your hair into a ponytail. I like mine pretty high, but this bun can work anywhere; high, low, or in the middle.

2. Section and spray

Take 1 inch sections of your ponytail and spray them with hair spray.

3. Tease, tease, tease

Using a teasing brush or comb, tease each of the sprayed sections. It will look as if you have a pile of cotton candy on top of your head. The bigger, the better.

Yep, this is normal…

4. Wrap and secure

Grab the ends of this crazy, teased mess and wrap it around itself to form a bun. Secure it with a few bobby pins.

5. Spray it

Spray it and go!

There you have it. Try it out and let me know if you have any questions!
