I am obsessed with grapefruits. They are refreshing, good for you, and remind me that Spring is just around the corner. Ever since I found this recipe, I have been eating at least half a grapefruit for breakfast in addition to my scrambles or oatmeal.
Grapefruit has a good rep for fighting fat. Who doesn’t love that? I’m not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but I’ve lost quite a few lbs since I started incorporating these guys into my diet.

I shouldn’t give grapefruit all the credit here. This smoothie has strawberries and a banana in it too. It’s extremely tart, however, so be prepared. If you’re craving something a bit more sweet, you can add sugar to cut down on the tartness. I didn’t add any sugar to this one.
Ingredients
(Makes 2 smoothies)
1 large ruby red grapefruit, peeled and cubed
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 medium banana, peeled
1/2 cup orange juice
1 (60z) container of plain non-fat Greek yogurt
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp honey
Directions
1. Cut the ends off each side of the grapefruit.
2. Carefully peel away the remaining skin and white pith using a sharp knife. (See above photo.)
3. Cube the grapefruit and remove all of the seeds.
4. Place grapefruit and other remaining ingredients into the blender.
5. Mix it up. Take it down.
Bottoms up.

Sounds tasty! My favorite use of grapefruit is for grayhounds.
Love this, Nichole! It tastes so fresh and healthy! I have a major sweet tooth so I did 2 tsp of honey and 1 pack of stevia in mine. I also added a scoop of chia seeds for extra nutrients. Keep the yummy shakes and smoothies coming!
